LUKAS NELSON - 'Promise of the Real' - Hyde Park, London - video interview with Andy Rawll

The front-man of Promise of the Real (POTR) talks to Andy Rawll about the band's latest (5th) album: 'Turn Off The News (And Build A Garden)' as well as their parallel path as Neil Young's backing band since 2015.

He talks about the challenge of superseding Young's beloved band 'Crazy Horse' and how the background of the POTR members provides a broader musical palette to support and enhance the performance of Neil's classic songs old and new.

Their recent show (June 2019) at Shepherd's Bush Empire was their largest to date, having progressed significantly since their 2016 club gig at the Borderline in Central London.

Lukas is also much in demand as a musician and collaborator, that culminated in a significant role on the recent blockbuster remake of the classic movie: 'A Star Is Born' starring Bradley Walsh and Lady Gaga. Not only did he co-write eight of the soundtrack songs and provide performance coaching to the actors, he and POTR act as the backing band in the movie itself.

There's huge synchronicity in Lukas appearance at Hyde Park given that long-time friend and mentor Kris Kristofferson had played on the same stage five days previously (7/7/19) and had joined headliner and former co-star Barbra Streisand on a reprise of 'Lost inside of you' from the iconic 1976 version of 'A Star is Born'.
