DAVEY NEWINGTON (BOY AZOOGA) - Hyde Park - video interview with Andy Rawll

Frontman Davey from psyche popsters Boy Azooga speaks to Andy Rawll after their raucously acclaimed set on the North Stage in London's Hyde Park, as part of the undercard to Neil Young and Bob Dylan's co-headline performances (on 12th July 2019).

The Cardiff quartet includes Davey's friends Daf Davies, Dylan Morgan and Sam Barnes band and released their debut album '1, 2 Kung Fu’ last year. Signed to Heavenly Recordings, they're preparing for their second record, sneaking in a handful of new songs in their set

Davey reveals the inspiration behind the band's eclectic sound, as well as the background to their unique name.

With a sound that uniquely combines the pop jangle of 90s Madchester indie with the retro prog-psyche swirl of 70s bands like Can and Man, these boys combine smart songwriting with accomplished musicianship to deliver a style that's as accessible as it is undefinable.
