More acts announced for The Strokes at Luno presents All Points East

One of this century’s defining rock bands, The Strokes will return to Victoria Park on Friday 25th August to headline Luno presents All Points East, for what will undoubtedly be a huge day of anthemic rock from New York and beyond. Today the line up gets even bigger as we announce ten more names for The Strokes headlining show; The Walkmen, Warmduscher, The Lazy Eyes, Be Your Own Pet, BBY, HighSchool, Hannah Grae, Silvertwin, Brigette Calls Me Baby and Vacations all join the ultimate indie billing.

Fellow New Yorkers The Walkmen have shared the stage with headliners The Strokes many a time throughout the years, having both blossomed during the early noughties New York City indie milieu. A broad sound palette, ranging from sparse and slow to chugging, fierce and punky, we will see The Walkmen bring back some noughties nostalgia for the first time since their departure in 2013. This year will see them back playing live for the first time in 10 years, making this All Points East show even more special.

London-based post-punk band Warmduscher will be joining the rock-heavy APE day on 25th August. Described as “the offspring of a match made in hell between Fat White Family and Paranoid London”, and “fractured rock & roll at its best”, the five-piece will undoubtedly bring an energy-driven and raucous crowd. Initially formed to play an impromptu house party in 2014, the band have since released 4 albums of acclaimed debauchery.

Returning to the UK for the first time since their debut performance at The Great Escape in 2022, Sydney-based The Lazy Eyes bring that driving, jammy, psych-rock signature Aussie sound to East London this summer. Their debut album SongBook was released last year, though they have been well-renowned Sydney-wide for their magnetic live sets for a long time, and slowly but surely this energy will become a fixture across the Atlantic too.

Nashville natives Be Your Own Pet are returning to the UK for the first time in 15 years. They reunited in 2021 after being specifically requested by Jack White to open for him on some southeastern US dates, and this has led to what frontwoman Jemima Pearls describes as “a reclamation” of herself, reviving the band and writing new hard-hitting material. They will be releasing their third album, titled Mommy this year; and a string of tour dates will see them across the world for the duration of the summer. Garage-rock at its finest, there will be a unique energy at APE that has not been witnessed since their departure in 2008.

Aptly described as “Mike Skinner and Jamie T in a chip shop”, BBY’s 2 singles ‘potholes’ and ‘How U Been?’, both released last year, are a refreshing take on the raw, punk-tinged melancholy sound that has been a reflection of UK underground culture since the days of Original Pirate Material. Still early days, but BBY will be sure to own the All Points East stage and turn a few heads on 25th August.

HighSchool is a three-piece composed of Luke Scott and siblings Rory and Lilli Trobianni. Combining glitchy noise-pop with the melancholic-tinged rainy cityscape sound of melodic guitar, it is no surprise the group moved from sunny, laidback Melbourne to the darker streets of London. They released their debut EP Forever At Last in 2021 during the Covid lockdown in Australia, balancing the strict curfew with their creative projects. 2022 saw them release chuggy-indie groover ‘Only a Dream,’ and this year we have seen a grittier and more industrial side to them with the single ‘Colt.’ Very intriguing to see how they will balance this array of influences in their live sets.

Singer-songwriter Hannah Grae received almost instant popularity after sharing her feminist piano version of song Barbie Girl on Tik-Tok in 2021. Three days later she posted the full version online and so began her musical career. Pop-punk guitar riffs, accompanied by introspective and self-aware lyrics combine to create a very personable and sincere character who resonates heavily with the younger and more socially aware generation. She has released consistently throughout 2022 and 2023, with her debut 9-track album Hell Is A Teenage Girl released earlier this year.

Silvertwin, fronted by Isaac Shalam, is borne from the desire “to bring classic heartfelt pop to the modern day.” He is joined by Jonathan Rado (The Killers, Weyes Blood, Foxygen) amongst band members, to bring about the self-titled 2021 album. The quintet “make you want to relive a point in time that we never stepped foot in, and puts us in awe that our ears are lucky enough to listen to this masterpiece.” The style is truly a moment in time, but Shalam is bringing it to the 21st century in a wholly unique way.

Chicago-based Brigette Calls Me Baby bring a unique feeling to indie pop, with jangly guitars, shimmering synths and infectious basslines underpinning the powerful voice and lyrics of songwriter Wes Leavins. They are a young band, having formed in 2021 and releasing their debut EP This House is Made of Corners only this year. However, they have a tightness and profound quality to their grand sound which signifies an enduring legacy.

Australian indie band Vacations have made a name for themselves in recent years with their self-described “woozy guitar pop” that soundtracks many a road trip or a “lazy weekend morning”. They have racked up over 500 million listens on Spotify, notably on tracks Young & Telephones, both of which went viral on Tik-Tok. Multiple singles and two albums later, their influence across the easygoing melancholic guitar sound is still strong, and will undoubtedly be a moment of respite during APE’s packed out indie-rock day.
