Osibisa working on previously unreleased live & studio recordings
Osibisa, the founders of Afro Rock are working on previously unreleased live & studio recordings for release in 2023, 2024 & beyond.
Here at Decibel Report we have been reliably informed that Osibisa the Afro-Rock giants of the seventies are currently working on recently recovered and previously unreleased studio and live recordings from the seventies, eighties and nineties.
The recordings encompass what are likely to include the first demo recordings laid down by the band prior to working with famed producer Tony Visconti in the early seventies, an album of rarities, through to an amazing as yet unreleased Beatles cover to full blown concerts that have not previously seen the light of day.
We have also been told by the bands management, producer and several band members that they are working on recordings originally slated for a previously unreleased seventies album, another from the eighties and a third album featuring Teddy Osei that was well underway just before he retired from active duty with the band about five years ago.
The newer project is a back to the roots project that was started by Teddy Osei and his producer in 2015 and progressed for the next three or four years until it was shelved, partly due to Covid and the entry of undesirable forces in 2020 and 2021. These recent recordings are rumoured to have been augmented by material and contributions from other founder members.
As the band has been setting up for a relaunch featuring original members for European tours and beyond this looks like it could be an exciting era for the band and fans alike.
