Lauren Spiteri releases brand new single 'Pretty'.
Scottish singer-songwriter Lauren Spiteri recently released her brand new single ‘Pretty’ on all formats and reflects upon her current rise towards stardom with Decibel Report's Editor Paul Davies.
With its hypnotic vocals and dreamy guitars, ‘Pretty’ is a low-fi ethereal call to arms. The track has echoes of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, Mazzy Star and Lana Del Rey.
Lauren states: “Pretty is a song I wrote about that overwhelming desire for someone. I was in a relationship that was toxic but I just couldn’t bring myself to end it. The lust and attraction kept me going back. I couldn’t imagine not being with that person even though I knew it was bad for me. Lust can often be a greater, more damaging force than love.”
The track was co-written with Shelly Mcerlaine (Alisha’s Attic) and produced by Nick Southwood. Learning to strum the guitar at an early age, Lauren soon honed her songwriting skills. After moving to London in 2008, she worked on many musical projects with friends/fellow musicians but it wasn’t until she met Luis Felber (ALLTHINGSMATA) in 2016 that she started to focus on her own solo material with Felber on production.
They got together in Felber’s studio near London Bridge and recorded the track ‘Deep Deep’ in 2018.
Since then, Spiteri moved back to her homeland of Scotland and worked with Fred Macpherson (Spector) and Felber on her debut single ‘Someone Else’s Dream’ released in March 2019, as well as the follow-up release ‘Bitterbug’.
Fresh from an explosive set at this years TRSMT festival, Lauren recently embarked on her biggest headline show to date at Glasgow’s King Tuts on September 27th 2019. ‘Pretty’ was released on all platforms on 20th September 2019.
