Hellfest 2023 / Mötley Crüe

Fresh from the legal troubles cause by the split with Mick Mars, this LA based motley crew are back in the continent with a co headlining set. This time the six strings are played by none other than John 5, the show kicks off and immediately you hear very familiar riffs and licks played to perfection, it’s incredible that he slips into this band with such ease. It’s 100% a match made in Hell (see what I did there ;)

Most bands from the 80s are suffering of lead vocalist/singer troubles and to be fair Mötley Crüe are probably one of the most affected by it, Vince Neil’s voice is not what it used to be, years of singing and probably too much partying have taken its toll. So to help a bro out, the band have taken the songs a few semitones down to help ease the pain and it works, kinda, as Vince can then sing the songs with a little help from the band and the dancers/backing vocal girls (we hope is not backing tracks but that is a different kettle of fish). So what we get is a great visual show with a couple of compromises. But as I said it works, is not classic Crüe but it is Crüe 2023. People age, we all do so instead of putting them down for creating an alternative we should support them, embrace the fact that our rockstars age and keep on rocking.
