Having been left high and dry following the rescheduling of the original members of The Damned lucrative tour dates, Rat Scabies has checked in with his ongoing One Thousand Motels sideline to emerge with a second album of snappy, sleazy, punk'n'roll soundscapes.

Hooking back up with first album resident Chris Constantinou, the pair has lassoed in singer Sean Wheeler to add a touch of sinister snarl to proceedings. Not venturing much further than their city limits three-chord song structures, there's a garage-psych flavour on Dark Harvest and funky blues on one of the most unusual album-opening song titles When The Rabbit's Got The Gun.

Whilst there is nothing new that hasn't already been tried, tested, and tripped over here, there's an upbeat party vibe with horns, guitars and those damned drums pumping a freakbeat to keep this whole shebang on the right side of the musical road; with a few freaky detours here and there.

There's also a rat pack of well-travelled, high calibre, storied session players raising the quality of musicianship by lending their fingers to these fifteen febrile numbers. However, it's Sean Wheeler's broken vocals that rise above everything as he tackles blues, gospel, soul, and rock stylings to near-perfect imperfection on a record that tunefully mixes hedonism and redemption in song. Most definitely an album to check out and get down to.
