Yes/The LPO - The Symphonic Music Of Yes re-released
YES / THE LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA: ‘THE SYMPHONIC MUSIC OF YES’
VOICEPRINT: VPVP619
RELEASED: FRIDAY, 30th JULY 2021
Originally released in 1993, THE SYMPHONIC MUSIC OF YES is a ten-track set that sets gems from the catalogue of British Prog-Rock institution YES, under the arrangements and production auspices of ex-Jethro Tull contributor David Palmer, and featuring performances from band alumni Jon Anderson, Steve Howe and Bill Bruford. The recordings were engineered by Alan Parsons, no less.
The tracklisting includes such classics as ‘Roundabout’, ‘Close To The Edge’, ‘Wonderous Stories’, ‘Owner Of A Lonely Heart’ and ‘Starship Trooper’. Palmer’s inventive arrangements add the Symphonic orchestral touches that were latent in the original recordings, revealing new layers of musical texture, to produce something fresh and new.
The release was part of a series of releases that Palmer created, covering artists such as Genesis, The Beatles and Jethro Tull, which proved very popular in the heyday of the compact disc age. Yes continue to be a much-revered and popular Prog Rock staple, and this reimagining of their music is a must for fans of the Prog genre.
