Maggie Bell will be touring the UK in 2022 as Special Guest on The Animals Farewell Tour.

“When Maggie Bell gently intones a traditional Scottish ballad captivating a silent audience with her warm voice,
it is one of the most moving moments on this remarkable collection of rare live recordings by one of the finest rock bands of the 1970s”.
 Chris Welch

Stone The Crows was a funky, rocking outfit blessed with an array of talented musicians including those late great guitarists Leslie Harvey and Jimmy McCulloch. Along with bass player, singer and composer Jimmy Dewar; Keyboard player John McGinnis and drummer Colin Allen, they evolved into a formidable team that would rival fellow 70s bands Free and Bad Company.

The Crows released a string of popular studio albums and toured extensively, wowing audiences with a style that blended American rock and soul, underpinned by Scots power and passion. Following the release of Stone The Crows and Ode To John Law in 1970, McGinnis and Dewar left the band and were replaced by Steve Thompson (bass) and Ronnie Leahy (keyboards).

All these players can be heard performing alongside Maggie on an array of recordings that conveniently chronicle the development of the band and its stylistic changes over the years. The band moved from performing in small clubs and university gigs to playing at rock festivals and Maggie regularly won the Best Female Vocalist at the annual Melody Maker Readers poll. Tragically, when on the verge of international stardom, Leslie Harvey was electrocuted on stage at Swansea’s Top Rank Ballroom in 1972.

This four-disc set charts the development of Stone The Crows brilliantly and accords the bands’ enduring reputation due respect.
