Steve Hackett - Genesis and More Revelations in his long-awaited autobiography

July 2020 sees the publication of ’A Genesis In My Bed’ – the long overdue autobiography from acclaimed musician and guitar icon Steve Hackett. Steve has written a detailed and richly entertaining book that charts a lifetime’s personal journey and musical odyssey, as he approaches a landmark birthday later this month.

Naturally, his time (1971 - 1977) as a member of what many consider to be the definitive line-up of beloved progressive rock band Genesis, is an essential part of Steve’s story, as they emerged to become one of the most successful British bands of all time.

He talks candidly about his time with the band, in particular his relationships with the other four band members and the dynamics and inner workings of such an iconic group.

The book covers Steve’s five-decade, twenty-five album solo career, with the publication date coinciding with the 45th anniversary of the release of his acclaimed debut solo work ‘Voyage of the Acolyte’ as he works on the sequel to 2019’s eclectic and highly satisfying ‘At The Edge Of Light’.

The power of Hackett's pen proves to be as mighty as his chords as his flair for evocative storytelling combines with a wry sense of humour to make A Genesis In My Bed a compelling read.

It’s certainly indispensable bed-time reading for the Genesis cognoscenti and longtime Hackett acolytes. Yet, as a warmly related and intriguing rock and roll tale, it's equally appealing to aficionados of the breadth of musical genres that Hackett has embraced during his eclectic and ongoing career.

From gut to steel, from blues to prog, from AOR to pop-rock, from classical to orchestral, Steve's creative achievements are as impressive as his continued dedication to honour the words from that fateful ‘Melody Maker’ advert ….”Imaginative guitarist-writer seeks involvement with receptive musicians, determined to strive beyond existing stagnant music forms". Fifty years on, that's still the trick of this tale.

1,000 copies of the book, individually numbered and signed by Steve, are available now to pre-order directly::

Following the ongoing success of Hackett’s ‘Genesis Revisited’ format tours, the current ‘Selling England and Spectral Mornings’ show is being replaced from September 2020. These recently announced shows celebrate the set performed on Genesis’s 1977 ‘Wind and Wuthering’ tour, so memorably captured on the classic live album ‘Seconds Out’.

Tickets for the Seconds Out + More Tour are available here and from venue box offices.
