Published on Tuesday, June 21st 2022 – what would have been Jon Hiseman’s seventy-seventh birthday – JON HISEMAN’S JOURNEY IN THE TIME MACHINE is a new book by Martyn Hanson, a 277-page, diligently researched and beautifully-illustrated tome which explores in rich detail the recorded works of Jon Hiseman. The book is published via Temple Music.

Hanson’s PLAYING THE BAND – THE MUSICAL LIFE OF JON HISEMAN, his acclaimed Hiseman biography, did not have an in-depth analysis of Hiseman’s recordings, so the new book is a very welcome effort to plug that gap. As Hanson explains in his preamble notes: “...the purpose of this book is threefold. Firstly, it is to place in stark relief the incredible, varied recorded legacy that Jon Hiseman left. This was something that Playing The Band neither could nor was intended to do. Secondly, it is to encourage fans to seek out the lesser-known works to which Jon contributed. Lastly, to explore aspects of Jon’s career that were not included in Playing The Band at all”.

Jon Hiseman is perhaps most closely associated with the Progressive Rock innovators Colosseum, the latest incarnation of which have just released a new album, ‘Restoration’, and who are due to tour Europe and the UK later this year. His influence and enthusiasm lives on through them, and the breathtaking scope of Hiseman’s musical contributions are represented brilliantly in JON HISEMAN’S JOURNEY IN THE TIME MACHINE.
