Paris-based Lebanese award-winning trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf makes a welcome return to the Barbican’s music programme following his appearance at 2015’s EFG London Jazz Festival in a double-bill with Manu Katché. This summer he will present a brand-new show, Capacity to Love, which sees him mixing rap, jazz and Middle Eastern influences. Ibrahim Maalouf will be joined onstage by François Delporte (guitar), Frank Woeste (keyboards) Yacha Berdah (trumpet, keyboards) and Henry Was (drums) with further artists tba.

One of the most popular instrumentalists on the French music scene, Maalouf’s work in blending genres has been recognised throughout the world for over 15 years. His last studio album First Noel was released in November 2021 and he will be back with his new 16th studio album soon. His love for cinema has led Ibrahim Maalouf to compose numerous film scores, including recent music for the documentary film 9 days in Raqqa directed by Xavier de Lauzanne.
