Final line-up revealed for Kings of Leon at BST Hyde Park
American Express presents BST Hyde Park is very excited to welcome back Nashville’s finest Kings of Leon to London! The multi-award winning rock group will headline at BST Hyde Park on Sunday 30 June, with the full line-up revealed today including: Gary Clark Jr., Cannons, Somebody’s Child, Red Rum Club, Keo, The Meffs, Daydreamers, and Nieve Ella. They join previously announced special guests Paolo Nutini and The Vaccines. Tickets on sale now, available at www.bst-hydepark.com
Guitarist/vocalist Gary Clark, Jr. has built a dynamic, consistently surprising career by first continuing the blues-rock tradition with much flash and flair, then incorporating a wide range of genres like funk, hard rock, and hip-hop into his constantly evolving sound. Emphasising the blues heritage of his hometown in Austin, Texas, he made a big splash with 2012's album Blak and Blu. Clark quickly took risks other contemporary blues guitarists didn't, collaborating with R&B singer Alicia Keys and modern rockers Foo Fighters, while branching out on the charged 2019 album This Land, and adding African music influences on 2024's powerful JPEG RAW.
CANNONS alternate between flashes of gauzy introspection, glitter-drenched dancefloor ecstasy, and gritty sensuality. The Los Angeles trio - Michelle Joy, Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis - elevate alternative electro-pop to a neon stratosphere with nocturnal production and a visual sensibility. Thus far, the band has honed this signature style over the course of three albums, namely Night Drive [2017], Shadows [2019], and Fever Dream [2022]. Along the way, ‘Fire For You’ reached RIAA gold status, generated nearly a quarter-of-a-billion streams, and landed massive syncs on the likes of NETFLIX’s Never Have I Ever, American Horror Story, and more. Emerging as a live force, they’ve headlined countless packed shows in addition to lighting up festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, to name a few. Evolving yet again, CANNONS kick-started another era with the sunny, sassy, and sexy funkified strut of their 2023 single ‘Loving You’, prior to their most recent album release Heartbeat Highway.
Also joining the line-up is groundbreaking voice in the Dublin music scene, Somebody's Child, Liverpudlian alternative sextet with a unique sound, Red Rum Club, and Keo, a four-piece alt rock band with a post-grunge sound.
Plus, frantic punk rock duo and an absolute must-see live sensation The Meffs, hazy summer guitar pop band Daydreamers, and one of 2024’s most exciting artists, singer-songwriter Nieve Ella.
These new additions join previously announced special guests Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini and fan favourites, indie rock band The Vaccines.
Earlier this year Kings of Leon released their brand new album, Can We Please Have Fun, their 9th studio record. The album, as its title suggests, is a document of one of this era’s great rock and roll bands cutting loose, trying new things, and yes, having some fun. Recorded at Dark Horse studio and produced with new collaborator Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + the Machine), the album sees the band hark back to their gritty origins, while simultaneously finding new gears.
About playing at BST Hyde Park, Kings of Leon say: “We can’t wait to get back to London and play at BST this summer. It is always a blast to play in the UK and we are ready to have some fun.”
The group, made of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill, and their cousin Matthew Followill, first shot to success here in the UK. Their debut album, 2003’s Youth and Young Manhood, became a sensation - declared by NME as "one of the best debut albums of the last 10 years". The multi-platinum selling band has three Grammy Awards, three NME Awards, two BRIT Awards, and one Juno Award. They have toured all over the world, selling out arenas and stadiums and headlining major festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds Festival on three separate occasions, Lollapalooza and Coachella.
