BST Hyde Park's All Things Orchestral announce Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz and more in show repertoire

Kickstarting this year’s American Express presents BST Hyde Park and the hugely popular summer event Open House is the extraordinary classical music experience, All Things Orchestral on Friday 28 June. Today, we’re thrilled to reveal more details about the repertoire, a grand musical celebration of Cinematic Classics and much more. With something for everyone, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will whisk the audience on a journey through time — from Beethoven to Back to the Future and Hans Zimmer to The Hunger Games!

It’s a celebration of the big screen, featuring music from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, The Wizard of Oz and Indiana Jones. The programme also honours the world’s most renowned composers, including Ludwig Beethoven, Edvard Grieg, Benedetto Marcello, Luigi Boccherini, and many more. Hosted by Myleene Klass, with special guests including guitarist MILOŠ and violinist Esther Abrami, this spectacular event will be performed by the world-famous Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Michael England.

We are delighted to host the European debut of the acclaimed American composer Laura Karpman, and her celebrated 2019 orchestral piece titled “All American”, featuring percussion instruments crafted out of kitchen tools like baking sheets and meat tenderisers, a nod to the domestic work that historically defined so many women’s lives.

We also gladly welcome Le Gateau Chocolat at All Things Orchestral. Combining drag, opera, theatre, cabaret and so much more, Le Gateau Chocolat’s work traverses genre and format, helping us to mark London Pride which takes place across the same weekend.

With many orchestras and arts organisations’ struggling, and attendance of classical performances in decline, All Things Orchestral is here to remind people of the power of classical music, and introduce it to new audiences. True to the accessible ethos of Open House and All Things Orchestral, Gold Circle ticket prices will be available from £7.95 on first release. So what are you waiting for, grab your picnic blanket and join us for a celebration of the incredible world of orchestral music, from Beethoven to Boccherini, Chocolat to Chaplin and John Williams to Wonder Woman!

Using BST Hyde Park’s famous Great Oak Stage, which has hosted the world’s biggest music legends since 2013, fans will be taken on a summer night’s journey through classical music, both traditional and modern. This special event promises to be a spectacle for thousands of fans, offering not only the allure of exceptional music but also the beauty of the surroundings.

This historic park has been graced by legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Carole King, Bruce Springsteen, Barbara Streisand, Billy Joel, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and many more, adding an extra layer of magic to the experience.
