In the pursuit of living up to their name, Aileen Mythen and KJ McEvoy, aka The Remedy Club, brought a musical panacea to the recent pandemic blues with their delightful harmonies, sweet country-blues songbook, and onstage chemistry that blends their talents to a perfect pitch endearing them to tonight’s audience. It's no surprise that, given the high standard of Americana/Roots based tunes in their set, their current studio album, True Hand True Heart, is produced by Grammy Award-winning Nashville producer Ray Kennedy. Aileen sings like a songbird on the country-based material. However, she also digs deep into her soul on the bluesy numbers revealing a captivating vocal range. This, coupled with McEvoy’s skilful guitar technique, means that they make a perfect match. A dramatic version of Thin Lizzy’s The Wild One and a standout cover of Elmore James’ It Hurts Me Too, alongside originals Fire And Gasoline and an entrancing Listening To Hank Williams, being the standout tracks to warm the hearts on a Kilburn Saturday night.
