At London’s British Airways ARC, Olympia, on 8 July 2026, The Meffs made a strong case for the power of a two-piece. Opening for Joan Jett, the kick-arse duo brought attitude, energy and sharp-edged punk spirit to a support slot that refused to go unnoticed.

From the opening blast of “Deathwish”, this was no polite warm-up. “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”, “Stamp It Out” and “Disorder (Wake Up)” kept the momentum high, delivered with the sort of enthusiasm that makes live music feel gloriously unmanageable.

“Business” led into a splendid curveball: “Breathe”, their take on The Prodigy. It was a gutsy choice that showed The Meffs are about more than thrashing through three-chord punk at maximum volume.

“Broken Britain, Broken Brains” hit hard, while their cover of the X-Ray Spex classic “Identity” was a fitting nod to their punk heritage. By the time “Clowns” closed the set, they had entertained the hell out of the audience and left plenty wanting more.

The Meffs were a bloody good fit for Joan Jett: enough raw energy, attitude and sheer bloody-mindedness to complement the headliner without trying to upstage her. They warmed up the crowd, kicked in a few doors and made their mark.

A thoroughly enjoyable introduction to a band I’d happily see again — preferably with more time on the clock.

The Meffs? Definitely a kick-arse duo worth keeping an eye — and an ear — on. Don’t forget your earplugs!
