Status Quo live at OVO Arena Wembley
Early December and we are here to witness the legacy of a rock band that keeps going and more importantly delivering the goods.
After a very rock n’roll opening set by Skakin’ Stevens we are left with a hunger for more. This appetiser delivers brilliant classics and a lot of intensity by a rocker that has been doing it for years. His experience and panache are there for all to see, great delivery and a show that caters for the audience. Classics revitalised for 2022, Merry Christmas Everyone.
But here we are waiting for the mighty Quo, the band that keeps rocking regardless of the personnel.
Today we have a band that is solid, full of technical ability and only one original member, but having said that they are still Status Quo so here we go…
The first thing you notice is the band sound, they are constant and solid like in the old days. Its incredible that the DNA of the band is still intact, Caroline the opener and Rain are just vintage Quo and then song after song they deliver a perfect Status Quo show, frantic, loud, tight and entertaining. The wit of Francis Rossi is on display and to be fair the crowd plays their part, proper British banter. Love it!
They go through a set list composed of classics and must play tunes that we all love, the bands tribute to Rick was pretty moving but it is with the music that they give past members a solemn tribute, flying the flag as they say.
The endless list of remarkable tunes piles in a medley full of classic stompers followed by a great version of In My Chair and the Bolland & Bolland cover In the Army Now gets Wembley singing out loud, very loud.
Rocking All Over the World? oh yeah they have and they will again and again, what a classic rock band, loud and fun.
