Sarah Jane Morris’ shows bring the right people together. People possessing exquisite taste in music and the arts with a passionate social conscience; especially for the underdog. In short, she’s a magnificent event.

And as far as underdogs go, the late, great, subtle and bawdy talents of John Martyn are revered in a magical evening of interpretations by the expressive delivery of Morris being crucially supported by the seductive guitar talents of Tony Remy and Tim Cansfield.

Touring her album of beautifully recorded John Martyn songs, Morris’ set, interspersed by filmed interviews with Martyn’s contemporaries and friends and produced by Mark Thomas, traversed the broad highlights of Martyn’s sublime career. An almost supernatural Solid Air, Head And Heart and I Don’t Wanna Know found this knowledgeable audience singing along in a folk club feeling.

A new addition to the set, it was a magnetically performed Glorious Fool which topically stole the show. The last word went to John Martyn with a film of him performing Big Muff on Hastings Beach playing everybody out of this sensational show by one of this country’s greatest living female talents.
