Olivia Rodrigez - Live at BST Hyde Park, London Friday 27th June 2025
Review by Deban Aderemi
From Disney starlet to pop superstar, Olivia Rodrigo's resumé at just 22 years of age is impressive.
Her 2021 single "Drivers License" peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, and she has gone on to release another eight hit songs with multi-platinum certifications and two number one albums.
Impressive industry accolades have followed including seven Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, and recognition as Time's Entertainer of the Year in 2021.
Headlining her British Summertime performance last night, she acknowledged that London was her favourite city to the 60,000 + fans who had travelled to see her perform at Hyde Park.
And what a performance it was! Armed with a strong setlist that featured her in a sequined-fringed two-piece sportswear, Olivia Rodrigo came to slay!
Channeling supermodel energy projected through a lavender-tinted mood filter, Olivia served an infectious blend of beauty, melody and angst. Her piano-led acapella performance of Driver's License was a showstopper that swept her fans off their feet. She followed this global hit with Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl and Vampire, shimmering in-between frames whilst sashaying across the stage. Her peer interaction was on point too! When she wasn't bending over backwards as her guitarist strummed his strings, she invited another mega-star to join her on stage.
To everyone's surprise, she introduced Ed Sheeran as her special guest. A true WOW moment! Ed Sheeran's catalogue of 7 albums have all peaked at number one, and the UK Official Charts Company named him artist of the decade. Together they strummed their acoustic guitars and performed a rousing rendition of his hit song "The A Team"
Again, the crowd went wild! In just under two hours, and days ahead of her Glastonbury gig, Olivia Rodrigo has proved herself as pop's mainstay.
