Gilby Clarke UK Tour supported by Guns2Roses

It was 1994 and Gilby Clarke on a break from being Guns n’ Roses rhythm guitarist recorded a Little Rock n’ roll gem titled “Pawnshop Guitars” fast forward 30 years and just like that we get a little Euro/UK tour of Gilby and his power trio band.

Starting the evening is an Italian Ramones tribute band called Wardogs that manages to encapsulate the raw sound of their idols. Plenty of power, fast, fun and loads of happy punters to warm up.

Up next is the premium Guns n’ Roses tribute band of the UK and dare we say World? Guns2Roses. The band hits the stage with force and they sound, look and feel like the real deal but back in the early 90’s as today we have a version of Izzy onstage as opposed to the Gilby version of the later 90s. Probably thought out as to not steal the spotlight of the headline act. They have a tight set full of classics and dropping a version of Attitude by the Misfits and a solo spot for the Izzy Stradlin song 14 Years, add the classic You Could Be Mine, the timeless Sweet Child o Mine and the closing rockers Nightrain and Paradise City. What a show, if you haven’t seen them do yourself a favour and book tickets asap.

And now the main act as Gilby Clarke walk on stage and we are treated to Monkey Chow from his Slash’ Snakepit days… unexpected but brilliant to the real aficionados. Tonight he treat us with new and old material with Gospel Truth and Under The Gun… then the brilliant Pawnshop Guitars then he gives us a couple of well placed and reinvented GNR songs like Its So Easy, Knocking on Heavens Door and Patience. Add a little Stone’s flavour with the famous pretty little ditty about smack Dead Flowers and closing the evening with Tijuana Jail from the anniversary album. Most excellent night of rock n’ roll had by all, they are playing the London Underworld in two days time and it looks like it’ll be even a better one, get your tickets quick.
