BlackBerry Smoke gave a more than adequate performance in what may have been their best live delivery in the UK to date. They produced a good set that included a rousing version of the Led Zep classic When The Levee Breaks.

And there lies the dilemma for this band that more often than not delivers a good show with fine musicianship; the cover song was so much better than anything else that they played. In saying that, the crowd reacted positively to this excellent cover version and their self-penned songs alike.

However, it remains to be seen whether the ‘Smoke’ will finally cut the mustard by delivering future shows with far more fire than they seemed to here.

A good show but room for improvement. The verdict is open at present on this one. Here’s hoping as they possess huge potential if they can just find those killer songs.

Setlist:

Lord Strike Me Dead
Run Away From It All
Waiting for the Thunder
Let It Burn
Medicate My Mind
Shakin’ Hands With the Holy Ghost
Ain’t Got the Blues
Free on the Wing
One Horse Town
Ain’t Much Left of Me
When the Levee Breaks
