Robert Randolph and the Family Band - Brighter Days.

The master of 'Sacred Steel' slide guitar, Robert Randolph speaks to Andy Rawll about his latest album. 'Brighter Days' by Robert Randolph and the Family band is released on 23rd August 2019 via Provogue/Mascot Label Group.

Different from his previous more blues-based albums, this current release is produced by Dave Cobb who is best known for his work with new country stars Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Brandi Carlisle and Jason Isbell.

Cobb has curated an eclectic, rootsy yet spiritual recording that harks back to Robert's early influences and gospel foundations.

Randolph’s previous album 'Got Soul' was Grammy-nominated for Contemporary Blues Album of the year. The depth and quality of the new album suggests that it might be in the running when award season comes around again.

Watch the video as Robert talks about his musical influences including SRV as he provides some impromptu slide to illustrate the range of his playing style.
