MMA fighter turned blues-rock warrior is back with ‘Light It Up, the sequel to the Divine and Dirty predecessor that spawned live favourites, including ‘Hail Mary’, ‘Lovers and Losers’ and ‘Watching Over Me’.

This latest album was released via Provogue (Mascot Label Group) on 13th September 2019 and picks up where ‘The Divine and Dirty’ left off. Opening with the aggressive and punchy pairing of ‘What You Get’ and the ensuing dentists’ delight where Kris declares his pugilistic intent: “I’ve never been afraid of cracked knuckles and broken teeth”.

Current single/video release ‘Vegas Son’ adds fusion to Barras’ already rich repertoire, with the main riff reminiscent of Ritchie Kotzen in dogged winery mode, while ‘6am’ unleashes a swampy groove, complete with crouching guitar, hidden banjo.

Andy Rawll spoke to Kris about the album, as well as discussing the phenomenal career trajectory that saw him progress from the Rising Stage at Ramblin’ Man in 2017, when ZZ Top headlined, to sharing the stage with Billy Gibbons as part of ‘Supersonic Blues Machine’ in 2018.
